The CPRE Hampshire Countryside Awards celebrate our beautiful, diverse and thriving countryside and those who help to cherish, support and sustain it. Here you’ll find information about the Hampshire Climate Action Award.
About the award
The climate crisis currently poses the largest threat to the Hampshire countryside. We want to hear how you’re rising to this challenge. Are you a local group taking action to tackle the climate crisis, for example through energy audits, tree planting or innovation projects?
Example Projects:
- Community Energy Audits
- Carbon Sink Promotion – for example through tree planting
- Carbon Neutral Initiatives
- Zero Waste Initiatives – such as shops or hospitality
- Food waste reduction projects
- Reuse and Recycling
The Climate Action Award is generously sponsored by, Hastoe Housing.
Who can apply?
Any individual or group who has taken action on a countryside related issue in their local area.
- An individual, organisation or group can enter themselves or be nominated by someone else. However, all individuals or organisations need to give permission to be nominated.
- Projects must be within Hampshire.
- The nomination must be relevant to work taken place from 1st January 2023 to present.
- Past projects are entitled to re-enter but entries must contain new elements on which they will be judged.
Award criteria
- Sets out clear, realistically achievable goals and objectives.
- Demonstrates a measurable and monitored impact.
- Ability to include and benefit a variety of ages across generations.
- Level of public or local community engagement within the project.
- Capacity to educate the public on the importance of climate action.
- Use of well-established, tried and tested techniques and approaches.
- Use of innovative ideas and initiatives.
- Ability to complement and work with other climate action projects working towards a common goal.
- Sustainability of the project in the long term.
- Contribution to future visions of a circular economy and carbon neutrality.

How to apply
- Please read the category descriptions, criteria and eligibility information below carefully. If you are not sure which category to enter into please contact opsmanager@cprehampshire.org.uk and we can help.
- You may enter into more than one category.
- Complete the online entry form and submit with supplementary information. Alternatively, download the Countryside Awards Entry Form 2024. Details of where to email or post are available on the form.
- Provide up to 5 supporting photos with your application. These will be used to promote the awards as well as your entered project or person.
- Short films or videos, references or letters of support are other examples of evidence you could supply. These will also be used to promote the awards and your entered project or person.
- The deadline for entries is 5pm on Monday 14th October 2024.

2023 Countryside Awards
The 2023 award winners were announced at a special ceremony attended by over 60 guests at the Kings Somborne Village Hall on 12th December 2023.
A diverse and inspiring selection of groups and projects from across Hampshire were showcased at the Hampshire Countryside Awards, with a film show of all the four finalists.
